According to a report by Chris Vernon, Marc Iavaroni has hired three new assistant coaches:
Johnny Davis was most recently on the bench in Indiana and also served as the head coach in Orlando after Doc Rivers left. A profile of Davis is here.
Gordon Chiesa was most recently an assistant in Seattle and, prior to that, was a longtime assistant with the Jazz during their late-’90s Finals runs. Chiesa also had head-coaching stints at Providence and Manhattan.
Here’s a profile of Chiesa. And another. And, apparently, Chiesa had his own radio show in Utah.
Perhaps most interesting is Dave Joerger, a young coach with a fabulous minor-league coaching resume, most recently with the NBDL Dakota Wizards.
Joerger has also had head-coaching stints in the CBA and IBA and has won multiple Coach of the Year awards in these leagues. Read a profile of Joerger here. And learn more here.
Speaking of Vernon, he has audio up on his site of our interview with hoops insider Sonny Vaccaro.
