I cursed when I first heard the mayo deal, as Love was a perfect fit at the 4. Then I heard about the arthur deal, and I thought it could work out.

After the season ended, I thought mayo was #3 and arthur was a def. top 10 player. We got both guys. I think I should be happy about that.

Still, this team is gonna take its lumps next year, as it grows. We dont have a single well-respected veteran on the team, so be prepared for more lottery next year. But I think that, overall, we got better last night. Who knows, maybe we will go into the lottery next year with a 1.7% chance and actually win the thing. The we would get to choose between blake griffin and a foreign guy named rubio.

Hey Chris, will we now have enough cap space this year to sign a top-tier free agent like Josh Smith? A starting lineup of Conley, Mayo, Gay, Smith, and Gasol with Arthur, Lowry, Crittenton, Warrick, and Darko coming off the bench. With that team, I think we could push for the playoffs this year and be a championship contender for years to come. Also, I think we should trade Kyle or Javaris for the right to someone like DeAndre Jordan, CDR, Joey Dorsey, or Bill Walker. We have to do something about our huge glut of point guards.

Chris, Fantastic coverage. I was watching the draft last night very closely but unable to respond to your blog. Thank you for all of the hard work and THE BEST Grizz info regardless of the subject.
I appreciate the effort you put into this and the great inside info and objective comments.
Mayo should be great for the Grizz to build around along with Gay and Conley.
I look forward to hearing more from you on this news and all Grizz news.
Does the CA need a reporter that can give us some real info?
YES.
Thank you again,
Lee

I had resigned myself to the idea that Love was going to be the only good player the Griz would get last night. I wasn't 100% sold on him, but I had decided that they could have done much worse. (Like trading away the pick for cap space.) So, I watched until late in the second round of the draft. Watched until I saw Dorsey and CDR finally get picked. (Heartbreaking, especially for CDR) Then, I went to bed.

This morning I wake up, and I had this nagging feeling that the Griz had to have made some sort of trade. I mean, all that talk and nothing came from it? It just seems like someone must have been moved.

So, I turn on my radio on the way to work, and HOLY S*&@!!! The Griz got O.J. Mayo AND Darrell Arthur! Unbelievable! Possibly the best moves the team has ever made!

The new starting lineup? Conley, Mayo, Gay, Arthur, and Gasol/Darko. Amazing. For the first time in over two years, I am an excited Grizzlies fan. I almost forgot what that feels like.
